The job of DBA

– “What does the job of DBA consist of?”

The DataBase Administrator or DBA is responsible for the design, implementation and management of DataBase Management Systems (DBMS).
DBMS, which are system software designed to create and manage databases, make it possible to read, write, modify, sort or restore information from these databases, depending on requests made by the user.

The DBA ensures the operation, but also the maintenance of these DBMS by adapting them according to technological developments and the needs of the company.
It is thus guarantor of the accessibility, quality and security of the data.

But the DBMS are numerous and varied and most of the time, they are of different designs, hence the difficulty of the DBA’s job and the extent of his task if he has to work on several DBMS.

Our CEO, Michel Payan, who has been a DBA for 25 years, has often noted that the companies in which he worked were faced with the same problem of setting up and maintaining the operating scripts of their DBMS.
With always the same need to guarantee the homogeneity of scripts across the fleet, the quality of the code, the management of errors and return codes.
This is why he had the idea and the desire to create multi-DBMS operation and maintenance software that could make the daily life of DBAs easier.

The dbSQWare software has now existed for 17 years and it is the only software in France capable of operating and maintaining, in a completely homogeneous manner, 12 different types of database engines.

CANUT

We are pleased to announce that our dbSQWare software is now part of the SCC-CANUT Multi-Publisher software catalog.

Thanks to the recently created CANUT (Centrale d’Achat du Numérique et des Télécoms), for this integration!

The adventure goes on…

CUSTOMIZATION

dbSQWare is the essential software for operating database engines to gain efficiency and autonomy!

Thanks to its generic libraries, dbSQWare is easily customizable.
It allows users to easily integrate their own scripts and adapt the display of indicators.

COTER NUMÉRIQUE: Working group of 09/15/23

The COTER NUMERIQUE working group at thecamp (Aix-en-Provence) is today!
– at 9:00 a.m., it will be reception/coffee,
– at 9:30 a.m., a message from the President of CoTer Numérique, Antoine Trillard,
– then, between 9:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., 5 communities will intervene, each in turn, to provide 30 minutes of feedback (20 minutes of presentation, 10 minutes of questions/answers),
– and finally, from 12:15 p.m., all participants will gather around a lunch cocktail.

📣 📣 📣
At 11:30 a.m., Frédéric Lagarde from the city of Marseille will do his feedback. With a presentation which will focus on “the 360° vision and the maintenance of its DBMS fleet with dbSQWare”.
📣 📣 📣

Emmy, Séverine and Michel Payan will also be present.

Thank you to the city of Marseille for its participation and feedback during this unique event at the camp.
And a big congratulations to the organizers and speakers!

BETTER PERFORMANCE

To obtain a better yield, it is important:
– increase performance
– to focus on tasks with high added value.

In terms of database engine management, too!

Hence the interest of using dbSQWare…
=> Very flexible, the software adapts to all companies, whatever their size and activity.
=> Thanks to its multiple functionalities, adopting dbSQWare not only means choosing serenity and control, but also making the team of administrators agile and scalable.

TOP-DOWN APPROACH

Because it is essential to be able to follow the evolution of its databases, the dbSQWare web interface offers a 360 degree view of all of its DBMSs.

Thanks to its indicators, it allows, at the same time, to have:
– a global vision: distribution by DBMS, versions, volumetry
– and a granular vision through a Top-Down approach: vision of the instance, the database, the table, etc.

dbSQWare provides a complete graphical representation necessary for monitoring, security, auditing and compliance.

With dbSQWare, keep control over your databases!

Back to IT & Cybersecurity Meetings

IT and Cybersecurity Meetings 2023 are over!

A big thank you to all the decision-makers who came to meet our team during this show.
Talking about database engine management is always a pleasure for dbSQWare.

Congratulations to Carole Jardon and her team for the organization and the quality of the event.
dbSQWare will be present for the next edition, in 2024.

And thank you to our colleagues and partners for their great sympathy!

IT & Cybersecurity Meetings

The Cannes IT & Cybersecurity Meetings is now!

After the welcome cocktail dinner last night, the event continues with 2 days of one-to-one fair, from 8:45 this morning until tomorrow evening, 6:30 p.m.
This show dedicated to professionals aims to promote direct “face to face” between Top Decision Makers and Exhibitors through pre-organized meetings prior to the event.
With :
– more than 2,000 participants per day
– 6,000 one-to-one appointments
– 170 exhibitors.

The dbSQWare team is in place and waiting for you on stand A20-B19 to discuss the management and maintenance of database management systems.
Emmy, Séverine and Michel will present their software with many features (backup, restore, copy of environments, update statistics, etc.) which supports 12 types of DBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Sybase, SQLServer, MongoDB, etc.).
Do not hesitate to come and meet them.

And above all, a very good show to all the participants!

MISSION

I put on my flying superhero outfit to the rescue of the DBMS!!

Thanks to my superpowers drawn from dbSQWare:
💻 I assist database administrators in their daily DBMS management and maintenance tasks.
⏳ I save them time.
👓 I provide them with a complete view of DBMS and associated tasks.
🐙 I make them more agile.

VIDEO_EPISODE 2 : 360° view

New dbSQWare episode to discover!

In a format identical to the first episode (on the backups), this one has the advantage of using dbSQWare to follow the evolution of its databases.
Indeed, the software’s web interface offers a 360° view of all the DBMSs. Thanks to its indicators, it allows to have a global vision, but also granular via a Top-Down approach.

Thank you Damien Dalmasso for making this new video.
Looking forward to the next ones!
